The Bachelor's programme in Catholic Theology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin invites students to explore questions about God, humanity, and the world from a scholarly perspective. At its core is theological anthropology – the reflection on humanity as seen through biblical, historical, and systematic traditions, as well as in dialogue with current societal challenges. The programme provides integrated expertise across the disciplines of theology – Biblical, Historical, Systematic, and Practical Theology – and their interrelationships. Theological questions are considered in dialogue with other disciplines such as philosophy, sociology, and psychology. Students learn to work with and analyze scholarly texts and develop their own positions. For teaching degree students, the programme imparts fundamental professional skills and prepares them for the subsequent Master of Education programme, opening the door to teaching Catholic Religious Education in schools.

* Prior knowledge of Latin, Ancient Greek, or Hebrew is advantageous * For teaching career: basic knowledge of Greek and Hebrew required for subsequent Master's programme * Knowledge of Latin (e.g., the Latinum) required for teaching career * Church membership not required for initial study, but necessary for later work as a teacher of Catholic religious education
