📋 Program Hakkında

The interdisciplinary master's degree program in Optics & Photonics covers the most important fields of application of optical technologies in addition to in-depth engineering and scientific fundamentals. It is part of the "Karlsruhe School of Optics and Photonics" (KSOP), which also offers a corresponding doctoral program. The program is taught in English with an international student body. The curriculum consists of mandatory modules including Engineering Optics & Photonics (8 CR), Physical Optics & Photonics (8 CR), Advanced Optics & Photonics – Theory and Materials (8 CR), Advanced Optics & Photonics – Methods and Components (10 CR), Adjustment Courses (8 CR), Optics & Photonics Lab (10 CR), Seminar Course (4 CR), Interdisciplinary Qualification (6 CR), a professional internship (12 CR), and a Master's thesis (30 CR). Students must choose one specialization area (16 CR) from: Photonic Materials and Devices, Quantum Optics & Spectroscopy, Biomedical Photonics, Optical Systems, or Solar Energy. Students benefit from cooperations with industry partners like ZEISS, Polytec, and BOSCH, as well as with small and medium-sized enterprises to facilitate their first career steps. KSOP also provides additional career training, networking events, free language courses, and state-of-the-art labs.

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Optics & Photonics, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biology, Mathematics, Mechatronics and Informatics, or related field with at least 180 ECTS credits * Minimum knowledge: Mathematics (12 credit points), Physics (12 credit points) * Subject-related aptitude: minimum 105 points in a two-stage assessment process * First stage (minimum 70 points): overall grade, mathematics grade, university achievements in Optics and Photonics, motivation letter, letter of recommendation * Second stage: 30-minute interview including presentation and discussion of an activity related to Optics & Photonics

* English language skills at minimum CEFR level B2 * TOEFL iBT: minimum 90 points * IELTS: minimum overall score of 6.5, no section below 5.5 * TOEIC: minimum 400 points in Listening, 385 in Reading, 160 in Speaking, 150 in Writing * Cambridge Certificate C1 Advanced (CAE) * Cambridge Certificate C2 Proficiency (CPE) * Cambridge Certificate B2 First (FCE) * UNIcert: at least level II * Pearson PTE Academic: minimum 58.5 points overall and at least 56.8 in Listening, 60.6 in Reading, 53.5 in Speaking, 74.1 in Writing
