Günümüzde bilgi teknolojisi, ister arabalarda, ister evde veya üretimde olsun, neredeyse tüm teknik sistemleri desteklemektedir. Hesaplamalı mühendislik bilimi (Computational Engineering Science), makinelerin yanı sıra süreç ve üretim tesislerinin inşası, optimizasyonu ve otomasyonu için bilgi teknolojilerinin geliştirilmesi ve uygulanması bilimidir. Mühendislik endüstrisinde bilgi teknolojisi iki düzeyde işlev görür: bilgi işlem bileşenlerinin ürün ve süreçlere dahil edilmesi ve bilgisayarların üretim mühendisliği, enerji mühendisliği ve süreç mühendisliğinde kullanılması. Computational Engineering Science Bachelor programı, bilgi teknolojisi ile makine mühendisliği veya enerji mühendisliği ve süreç mühendisliğini bir araya getiren disiplinlerarası bir program olarak tasarlanmıştır. Geniş tabanlı müfredat matematik, mühendislik ve bilgi teknolojisi alanlarını ele almakta ve bu sayede teknolojik süreçleri ve bunların işlediği bağlamları derinlemesine anlamanız için gerekli teknik prensipleri sağlamaktadır.

Information technology today supports nearly all technical systems, whether in cars, the home or in production. Computational engineering science is the science of the development and application of information technologies for the construction, optimization, and automation of machines as well as processes and production plants. In the engineering industry, information technology functions on two levels: the incorporation of information-processing components into products and processes and the deployment of computers in production engineering, energy engineering, and process engineering. The Computational Engineering Science bachelor's program is conceived as an interdisciplinary program bringing together information technology and mechanical engineering or energy engineering and process engineering. The broad-based curriculum addresses areas of mathematics, engineering, and information technology and as such provides you with the necessary technical principles for a thorough understanding of technological processes and the contexts in which they operate.
