The study of Catholic Theology involves critically engaging with the content of the Christian faith and the basic convictions of Christian life in an argumentative and analytical manner. Current challenges provide the perspective from which the biblical foundations of the Christian faith and their historical development are examined. The theology program also interacts with numerous other sciences, providing diverse education. The teaching degree program focuses on the appropriate implementation of this engagement in school teaching. The study of Catholic Religion aims to impart the ability to initiate and competently accompany religious educational processes. The program is open to all interested parties, though membership in the Catholic Church is a prerequisite for later employment as a religion teacher. In addition to teaching, a degree in Catholic Theology provides access to other professional fields in church, business, public life, and media.

* General admission requirements for university studies must be met * For teaching at Gymnasium level, knowledge of Latin and Greek is required (can be acquired at the university) * Membership in the Catholic Church is required for later employment as a religion teacher
