📋 Program Hakkında

The Economics program at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Campus Essen, aims to develop the ability to identify economic problems and critically evaluate economic concepts in terms of their contribution to solving these problems. Students are enabled to contribute independently to solving such problems by applying knowledge of economics and methods of empirical economic research, and to critically classify scientific findings. The Master of Science in Economics is designed to prepare students for typical career fields in economics. The program emphasizes international comparability while maintaining a university-specific profile focused on applied aspects (Empirical Economic Research). Students are also enabled to act responsibly in a free, democratic, and social constitutional state and to acquire methods that enable scientific progress. The program concludes with a written thesis with a processing time of six months (Master's thesis), which serves as an introduction to independent scientific research. After completing the Master's program, there is the possibility of pursuing a doctorate. The internationally recognized active research in economics at Campus Essen is continuously incorporated into the courses, benefiting students who are also involved in ongoing research projects.

* Bachelor's degree in Economics (B.Sc.) from the University of Duisburg-Essen or an equivalent or comparable degree in Business Studies (e.g., Business Administration, Medical Management, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Business Mathematics) with 60 credits in Business Administration and Economics * Or a minimum three-year relevant degree with a first professional qualification in Economics or an equivalent or comparable degree in Business Studies with 60 credits in Business Administration and Economics or 42 credits in Economics, Statistics, and Econometrics and a total workload of at least 180 credits * The overall grade of the degree must generally be 3.0 or better * Applicants must have completed 42 credits in Economics, Statistics, and Econometrics
