The master's degree program Spanish Culture and European Identity / Cultura y pensamiento europeo: tradición y pervivencia was developed in cooperation with the Universidad de León. It is a bi-national degree program that is unique in both Germany and Spain in terms of its specific combination of Romance studies, Spanish studies and European intellectual history. Students gain extensive knowledge of the origins and dissemination of Spanish and European culture, from their roots in antiquity to the indelible influences of the Christian, Jewish and Arabic cultures of the Middle Ages up to its dissemination in Latin America. During the integrated year abroad in León, students not only expand their academic knowledge but also acquire significant intercultural competences. Graduates of this degree program receive a double degree. The program is directed at graduates from a bachelor's degree program in Romance Studies with focus on Hispanic Studies or in Latin American and Ancient American Studies.
