📋 Program Hakkında

The Master's program in Mathematics of Machine Learning and Data Science provides mathematical foundations of the research area 'Machine Learning and Data Science' through relevant teaching content in pure mathematics (topology, differential geometry, dynamic systems) and applied mathematics (statistics, optimization, numerics, functional analysis), which are necessary for understanding and further developing the methods. The program differs from the Master's program in Mathematics through its focus on the interaction of mathematical concepts and the research-oriented focus on Machine Learning and Data Science. The project work in the Data Science Lab trains the application of methods and teamwork. The study is structured into a ring lecture, specialized studies, Data Science Lab, interdisciplinary competencies, and a master's thesis. The specialized studies are divided into 5 areas with corresponding modules, of which 3 are mandatory: Geometric Methods for Machine Learning, High-dimensional Numerics, Partial Differential Equations and Measures, Statistical Learning and Empirical Process Theory, and Variational Methods and Numerical Optimization.
