Architects and urban, regional, and landscape planners can often not truly do justice to the complex tasks of urban development with their specific expertise and skills. Urban development requires a multidisciplinary, cooperative approach both because of the complexity of the tasks and the large number of affected and participating actors. The master's program in Urban Design brings together architecture, urban and regional planning, sociology, and landscape architecture. In cooperation with Tongji University in Shanghai, China, you have the opportunity to complete the degree program Urban Design as a double master's degree (dual degree program). Participants in the special program study together for one year in Berlin and for one year in Shanghai. Urban Design is an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary discipline located at the intersection of architecture, urban and regional planning, urban sociology, landscape architecture and environmental planning. The program's broad curriculum introduces students to all these disciplines through an integrated approach. The master's program is project-based with a large proportion of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teaching. In their first semester, students attend the "Urban Design Studio" project. In their second and third semesters, students complete two suitable projects drawn from the Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban and Regional Planning master's programs. The program prepares students for careers in design, academia, or leading public planning or administration roles. Technische Universität Berlin has cooperation agreements with over 300 international universities, offering students a wide range of possibilities to study abroad. Students who participate in an exchange program generally receive a scholarship and waived tuition fees at the host university. Stays last between three and twelve months, depending on the individual program.

* Minimum degree required: Bachelor's or equivalent university degree in architecture, urban and regional planning, landscape architecture, or a related program * Related degree programs must contain a minimum of 30 credit points from disciplines related to architecture, or urban or spatial planning * A maximum of 12 credit points can be replaced by relevant professional experience * Internship requirement: One or more internships totaling at least 640 hours (typically in 16 weeks) must have been completed before starting the program

* English: CEFR level B2 or equivalent * German: Knowledge of German is useful as some courses/modules are offered in German, but not required for admission
