📋 Program Hakkında

The Integrative Music Theory Master study course reflects the new music theory concept at the Folkwang University of the Arts, which may be considered as profile-building within the university landscape. The program consists of three specialization areas: Didactics, Historical Music Theory, and Composing/Orchestrating/Arranging/Producing. The study course concept ensures the necessary qualification for pursuing artists, academic and pedagogical vocations, with a focus on teaching at colleges, universities, music schools, and general secondary schools. The program emphasizes research in historical musical practice and theory building, as well as expertise in music production. Handling new electronic media in art and teaching is emphasized throughout the curriculum. The program aims to expand and improve vocational qualifications in various musical professions including academic teaching, publishing activities, editing careers in media, the phonographic industry, and freelance activities such as composing and arranging.

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* Completed university studies in a music-related artistic or scientific field (Diploma, Bachelor, State examination or comparable examinations) * Evidence of artistic aptitude through passing the aptitude test at the Folkwang University of the Arts * The aptitude test consists of a 30-minute oral examination including presentation of a portfolio with composition/music theory work, questions on music theory content, ad-hoc analysis/listening analysis, and piano/figured bass playing * An additional 15-minute practical examination in piano, another instrument, singing or conducting
