Jewish Studies is a humanities discipline committed to reflecting on the cultural foundations of society, both broadly and in detail. The task of the humanities scholar is primarily to understand, explain, and ultimately mediate: between groups, to people, and into society. These processes require precise methodological foundations and progressive content-critical guidance with competence for the basics, a sense for detail, and a view of the whole in its uniqueness and context. The Heidelberg School of Jewish Studies, as a European center of excellence in this field, offers opportunities for deepening and penetration that are not offered elsewhere, making it particularly attractive for students seeking a Master's degree in Jewish Studies. Jewish life is not limited to religious rites but encompasses all areas of human existence. The subject has intersections with all areas of the humanities and beyond. Accordingly, the School of Jewish Studies offers several sub-subjects, ranging from the history of the Jewish people through Bible and Talmud, philosophy, literature, and linguistics to Jewish art. In this way, Jewish Studies at the School of Jewish Studies provides a comprehensive picture and the possibility of comprehensive knowledge of Jewish life in Germany, Europe, and the world in the past and present. Of the 120 credit points, 20 credit points are allocated to the module 'Interdisciplinary Elective' at Heidelberg University. The academic degree of Master of Arts obtained upon completion of the program qualifies for further doctoral studies but also enables direct entry into careers at other scientific institutions and service providers such as museums, memorials, print, online and radio media, or other institutions that depend on corresponding competencies.
