The bachelor's program Food Science and Nutrition with teacher training is the first step towards acquiring the qualifications needed to teach this subject at vocational schools. The program teaches knowledge and skills in the fundamentals of food science and nutrition, teaching methodology, and educational science. The curriculum's technical component addresses topics such as biochemistry of nutrition, microbiology of food, and basic principles of food technology. It includes two practical projects specifically for teacher training students to examine dietetics and food production processes. This degree program is intended for individuals who wish to pursue a teaching degree and is not suitable for those seeking a strictly technical degree course. The program consists of 90 LP in the core subject nutrition/food science (including the bachelor's thesis), 60 LP in a secondary subject at HU or FU Berlin, and 30 LP in teacher training components.
