📋 Program Hakkında

The international MSc Marine Geosciences program conveys the modern state of research and methods in marine geosciences. It is explicitly aligned with the marine research foci of the department and MARUM (Centre for Marine Environmental Sciences) and enables a close link between current research and teaching. Students benefit from the comprehensive equipment and personnel at the Department and MARUM and the wide range of research activities and the ship expeditions. The interdisciplinary character of modern marine geosciences is reflected in the topic-centred study structure. The first Master's year is characterised by lectures, seminars and projects in the so-called core subjects. By choosing 3 or 4 out of 8 core subjects, students can develop an individual profile. Up to 4 modules complement the core subjects with field and laboratory practicals, digital computer applications and soft skills. The 2nd year geosciences project can be either a marine research project, a geomedia project or an external/international project in marine geosciences. The research seminar deals with the development and presentation of research projects and prepares the students for their master thesis. The fourth semester is dedicated to the Master's thesis.

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* Minimum degree required: First qualifying university degree in a program with a geoscientific focus or equivalent, with at least 180 ECTS credit points * Proof of at least 30 CP in mathematical, chemical, biological or physical areas from previous studies * Proof of at least 60 CP in geoscientific areas from previous studies * Passing a written aptitude test on fundamentals of general and marine geosciences (at least two-thirds of questions answered with at least 50% correct) * A letter of motivation justifying the special interest in Marine Geosciences

🗣 Dil Gereksinimleri

* English language proficiency at minimum B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) * Non-standard requirements: Proof is also provided if applicants have acquired their higher education entrance qualification or their last university degree in English
