📋 Program Hakkında

Innovative biomedical engineering is essential for enhancing options for diagnosing and treating numerous illnesses. The aim of the degree course is to give students a thorough grounding in IT methods and to train them as engineers capable of developing innovative biomedical equipment. The program features a symbiosis between medicine and engineering with orientation towards research and application-based work. In addition to core IT competencies such as developing hard and software for capturing and processing information, students learn to tailor their work to clinical situations and requirements, with a section of the course held at the Uniklinik hospital in Mannheim. The program places special emphasis on cooperating on application-based research projects at an early stage and offers the possibility to gain international experience through a semester abroad. The curriculum includes foundation courses in mathematics, physics, medicine, programming, and electrotechnics, followed by engineering fundamentals in image-guided procedures, electronic circuits, and embedded systems. The program is structured into 2 semester basic study and 5 semester main study including a work experience semester and the Bachelor thesis. The qualification goal is to provide students with competencies to develop and improve biomedical healthcare devices like new imaging techniques, biomedical sensors, and intelligent therapeutical devices. The program includes an internship semester in industry and concludes with advanced studies and a bachelor's thesis.

* General or specialised higher education entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent) * Entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences * Or proof of equivalent previous education * For international applicants: certificates need to be certified by an appropriate agency * Applicants from China, India, Mongolia and Vietnam need to submit a certificate from the Akademische Prüfstelle (APS) * Non-German speaking students must be eligible to attend university in their home country according to German regulations
