📋 Program Hakkında

Chemistry is a central natural science that plays a key role in solving global challenges such as sustainable energy supply, modern medicine, environmental technologies and new materials. The Master's programme in Chemistry provides in-depth knowledge in all areas of modern chemistry, from synthesis and analytics to theoretical modelling, and thus qualifies students for demanding tasks in research, industry and development. The programme is research-oriented and offers a wide range of opportunities for individual specialisation, for example in organic, inorganic, physical or theoretical chemistry. Students acquire the ability to work independently in a scientific context, to critically analyse complex chemical issues and to collaborate on an interdisciplinary basis at the interface with life sciences, physics, materials science and engineering. The curriculum consists of 4 mandatory modules in Inorganic, Organic, Physical, and Technical Chemistry (each 10 CP), 5 elective modules chosen from 12 offerings (each 10 CP), and a Master's thesis (30 CP), totaling 120 credit points. The Master's degree programme aims to complete the student's theoretical and experimental training in the fundamentals of chemistry, providing students with a deeper understanding of the subject and teaching them the skills and methods needed for independent scientific work. Graduates should have an overview of the synthesis and properties of chemical compounds and be able to apply methods to solve complex chemical problems. Thanks to their broad yet specialised education, graduates are excellently prepared for careers in the chemical industry, research institutes, public bodies, or for subsequent doctoral studies.

* Minimum degree required: Bachelor degree (B.Sc.) or equivalent university degree in Chemistry * Other Bachelor's degrees or examinations can be recognized upon application if equivalence is established * Minimum Grade Required: Overall grade of 2.5 or better * Other requirements: Special suitability is checked by the faculty * Students must complete 30 credits in mandatory modules, 42 credits in mandatory electives section I, 18 credits in mandatory electives section II, and 30 credits for the Master's thesis
