📋 Program Hakkında

The M.Sc. Applied Statistics at Trier University has a dual aim. On the one hand, it qualifies graduates to work in positions with a primary focus on statistics/quantitative methods in public institutions (especially statistical institutes and central banks), research institutes (particularly those focusing on economic and social sciences), or private companies (e.g., in the financial sector). On the other hand, graduates are thoroughly prepared for Ph.D. studies and can make substantial contributions to statistical research. The program focuses on modern applied methods of statistics with special emphasis on computational survey statistics. Students gain a deep understanding of core, application-focused statistical methods and are introduced to state-of-the-art, specialized methods in their chosen specialization track. The program offers four specialization options: survey statistics (focusing on survey sampling, variance estimation, and Monte Carlo simulation methods), data science, European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS), and geostatistics (focusing on applications in geoinformatics and environmental remote sensing). Throughout their studies, students become professional users of the statistical programming language R. The program benefits from the department's international research network, providing students with international perspectives and insights into ongoing statistical research. Trier University is one of only 31 degree programs that also offer the certificate European Master in Official Statistics (EMOS).

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* Proof of a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree with at least 180 LP points * Grade of 2.0 or better in Mathematics (Applied Mathematics or Business Mathematics) or Statistics, OR * Grade of 2.0 or better in business administration, social sciences/sociology or economics with competences amounting to at least 24 ECTS credits from the subject area 'Mathematics, quantitative methods, statistics, of which at least 5 ECTS credits from the field of mathematics and at least 10 ECTS credits from the field of statistics, OR * Degree in a related programme with a grade of 2.0 or better and with at least 30 credit points from the subject area 'Mathematics, quantitative methods, statistics' * A letter of motivation must be enclosed with the application * Good knowledge of the programming language R is recommended
