📋 Program Hakkında

The four-semester Master's degree programme in Bioinformatics at Saarland University is a research-driven programme that builds on the foundations established in the B.Sc. programme. The programme focuses on the interface between informatics and biology, covering topics such as genetics, drug research, virology, biotechnology, and bioreaction engineering. In the informatics part, students study data structures and algorithms, machine learning, computer graphics, database systems, artificial intelligence, and software engineering. Students also acquire knowledge in project management and patent law. The programme requires 120 credits, including core informatics courses, advanced bioscience lectures, bioinformatics lectures and practical courses, seminars, and a Master's thesis. Graduates can pursue careers in research and development in industry, pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology sector, or publicly funded research organizations.

* Minimum degree required: Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics or comparable degree * Non-academic requirements: Demonstration of particular academic aptitude and suitability for the program * Basic knowledge of mathematics (18 CP) * Basic knowledge of computer science (18 CP) * Basic knowledge of bioinformatics (sequence analysis, protein structure) (18 CP) * Basic knowledge in areas of life sciences (chemistry, molecular biology, genetics) (10 CP) * Letter of justification for the choice of degree programme (max 1000 words)
