📋 Program Hakkında

The Master program Biology runs over two years and provides a modern research-oriented training in a wide range of research areas within the biological sciences. These areas include animal physiology, biotechnology, botany, cellular biology, computational biology, ecology, genetics, microbiology, nanophysiology, neurobiology, phytopathology, plant physiology and zoology. The program offers four specializations (majors): Microbial and Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Cell Biology, Molecular and Medical Neuroscience, and Ecology. Students receive thorough theoretical training in lectures, courses, and seminars, followed by several lab rotations where they can explore different fields of scientific research. For their Master thesis, students select one research group and work on a scientific project in a modern research laboratory for six to eight months. Students are trained in small groups (mainly 10-20 people) and can select an individual program based on their preferences. All courses are taught in English. The program consists of 12 modules totaling 120 ECTS credits over four semesters, with approximately 60% practical components.

* Completed bachelor with a very good grade (top 20%) * Theoretical AND practical training in a bachelor program with content comparable to the biology bachelor program at the University of Kaiserslautern * Practical lab courses in subjects relevant for the chosen specialization * Basic lab skills and solid theoretical knowledge in molecular DNA techniques * Fluent in English (speaking, writing, and understanding) * For admission to the Master's program, applicants must achieve 50 assessment points (BWP) calculated from subject competencies and the grade of the qualifying university degree
