📋 Program Hakkında

In the English-language master's course International Physics Studies Program (IPSP) that is focussed on research, you will acquire in-depth specialised training in modern areas of experimental or theoretical physics. In physics elective courses you can specialise in a topical area of modern physics. The programme is research-oriented, and you complete the programme with an independent research thesis, the 23-week master's thesis. The Master's course aims to convey comprehensive, advanced knowledge in the primary disciplines of physics with an in-depth education in sub-disciplines of physics research. You can choose to specialise in one of the topics of experimental physics such as soft-matter or solid-state physics, in theoretical and mathematical physics or in applied physics. The program requires 60 ECTS credits and is structured in two phases: the specialization phase and the research phase. In the specialization phase, 15 ECTS credits are allocated to advanced specialization in physics electives. The research phase comprises 45 ECTS credits, including a 15 ECTS research internship to prepare a research field and the subsequent 30 ECTS master's thesis and its defense.

* Minimum degree required: A completed bachelor's degree in physics with a total of 240 ECTS credit points * For applicants with degrees in subjects other than physics: Admission possible if the previous degree is related or similar in content to the Physics degree programme (decided by the admission commission) * Required knowledge: Sound knowledge in experimental physics in the subject areas "Solid State Physics" and "Soft Matter Physics" as well as in theoretical physics in the subject areas "Quantum Mechanics" and "Statistical Physics" with a minimum of five credit points each * Language requirement: Knowledge of English at B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (or equivalent)
