📋 Program Hakkında

The MA Global East Asia (MAGEA) is a two-year consecutive, research-oriented, English taught master's program. The program provides students with core knowledge and diverse methodologies for exploring topics of 'global East Asia' in its historical and contemporary development. With its multidimensional as well as interdisciplinary approach, the Master's program deals with local, national, regional and global contexts in and around East Asia. Particular attention is paid to both the structural features that constitute East Asia as a unified space and to political, economic, and cultural barriers that have impeded further integration. MAGEA's classes provide a multi-layered and interdisciplinary perspective on the cultures, history, politics and societies of Korea, Japan and China. Students acquire methodological, interdisciplinary and linguistic competencies for dealing with their chosen focus country (China, Japan, Korea) and the entire region of East Asia and its global entanglements.

* First university degree (e.g. Bachelor) of at least 180 credit points (ECTS) * At least 30 ECTS in courses in East Asian Studies and/or Chinese, Japanese or Korean Studies (language courses not included)

* English: C1 level (CEFR) * East Asian language: At least B1 level (CEFR) in one of the following languages: Chinese, Japanese, Korean
