📋 Program Hakkında

Biblical Studies is an international and interdisciplinary degree program that is taught in English, covers two semesters, and is aimed at students who would like to immerse themselves in present-day research on Biblical texts enriched by the vast experience of European scholarship in exegesis. The study of the Bible in its literary and linguistic diversity is part of the basic theological and cultural-historical education. Next to subject-related modules focusing on the analysis and interpretation of the original language texts of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, with consideration of the literary and reception history of these writings, students can choose an interdisciplinary module to expand historical knowledge or deepen their understanding of the current reception of biblical topics. Students are enabled to independently analyze, interpret, and contextualize biblical texts and related literature as well as themes and traditions of different theological approaches. In addition, they will develop intercultural skills and the ability to participate in an international academic discourse. The program is research-oriented and opens up the possibility of subsequent doctoral studies. Possible Lines of Work: Academia (research management, teaching/research at universities, research institutions, etc.), religion journalism, editing/publishing, adult education.

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* University degree (in Germany or abroad) in a relevant discipline (minimum 240 ECTS credits) * Study of central source texts of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament in the original languages amounting to at least one seminar course each * Proof of the corresponding language skills (completed language courses in Biblical Hebrew and New Testament Greek) * Foreign applicants who have not completed their university studies in Germany or another EU country must pass the aptitude test for university studies
