📋 Program Hakkında

During your studies you will acquire a solid understanding of the cultures of classical antiquity and their reception. This programme is available as a minor subject. It takes an interdisciplinary approach, while giving the Department of history (ancient history, archaeology) and the Department of Literary Studies (Greek and Latin studies) the primary roles within the programme. The unique aspect of this cultural studies oriented minor lies in its transcendence of traditional academic boundaries by linking historical findings (literary texts, physical artefacts) from different disciplines and how they were perceived in the course of the centuries. This minor is composed of different modules which concentrate on the literature, history and religion of classical antiquity, philosophy and law. It also focuses on language as a subject of linguistics, the material culture of classical antiquity, as well as the reception of classical antiquity during its own period, the Middle Ages, the early modern era, and the modern era.

* General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or equivalent * You enjoy reading literary and academic texts * You are interested in history and culture in the European language area * Your ability to express yourself in German is very good * Qualification in Latin (Latinum) and ancient Greek (Graecum) (you can catch up on missing Latin and Greek skills in your first year of study)

* Qualification in Latin (Latinum) or ancient Greek (Graecum) required * Missing language skills can be caught up in the first year of study * Knowledge of a foreign language other than the language included in your minor subject must be documented by the time you register for your bachelor's examination
