The Master's programme in "Atlantic Studies" focuses on the social, cultural, political and economic relationships in the Atlantic region, particularly the South Atlantic. Students can choose between a historical or interdisciplinary perspective of the humanities and social sciences. The program examines interconnections between continents around the Atlantic against the backdrop of historical and contemporary globalization processes and migrations. A special focus lies on relations in the South Atlantic region due to the unique teaching combination of African History and Latin American History present in Hannover. The historical specialization offers a full range of time periods from antiquity to contemporary history. The program includes challenges of long-term social change, conflict dynamics and resolution, mediality and interculturality, dealing with colonial past and heritage, and globalization studies.

* Undergraduate degree in a related field of study, such as: English Studies, History, Political Science, Politics, Social Sciences, Spanish Studies, or Study of Religion/Values and Norms * For master's degree programmes with restricted admission, places are allocated according to the university's own selection procedure
