📋 Program Hakkında

Students on the M.A. programme "General and Comparative Literature Studies" are experts in transcending linguistic and cultural boundaries. By studying and analysing texts and other cultural artefacts and by contextualizing them within broader categories, students will learn to transcend temporal, linguistic, geographical, cultural and media boundaries. They will also compare and contrast literatures, cultures and a variety of media and will become familiar with literary and aesthetic issues from both a historical perspective and a contemporary standpoint. The program is designed for 4 semesters and comprises 120 credit points. The main subject accounts for 71 CP, the subsidiary subject for 27 CP, and the Master's thesis for 22 CP. Graduates typically have good communicative and rhetorical skills in several languages and are highly sought-after in the media sector, cultural and arts organizations, publishing, press and public relations, academia, politics, business, and adult education.

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in General and Comparative Literature Studies, Comparative Language and Literature Studies, Translation (with focus on Comparative Literature), or related field with predominantly literary studies components * Proof of basic competence in General and Comparative Literature Studies (min. 6 CP) for applicants without a Bachelor's in this field * Special aptitude for Master's studies (documented in a dossier of 2-3 pages describing previous experience, areas of interest, and motivation) * Advanced language skills in two modern foreign languages (typically English and French) * For applicants without German higher education entrance qualification: German language proficiency (Level C1)
