The master's program in Building Archeology and Heritage Conservation is characterized by its interdisciplinary and strong practical focus. The program picks up the academic discussion with the architecture of classic antiquity, upon which the methodology of building archaeology was developed. Students will also look at building documentation, historic site conservation, historic construction forms and structures, building research, strategies for monuments and historic sites, cultural heritage, and concepts for conservation and use. The program is focused around a supervised project that changes annually: a historic site in Berlin-Brandenburg with which students learn the methods and objectives of building archaeology and heritage conservation. The program qualifies graduates to analyze and conserve historical structures and urban contexts under consideration of historical, cultural, social, economic, ecological, political, and legal aspects.

* Minimum degree required: Initial university degree in architecture, civil engineering, art and cultural history, history, archaeology, restoration, geodesy, urban and regional planning, landscape planning and landscape architecture, historical geography, ethnology, pre-and early history, or a related degree program * Non-academic requirements: Mandatory internship in the field of building archaeology and heritage conservation
