The Computational Sciences Master's program at Freie Universität Berlin is an interdisciplinary four-semester program that teaches students how to apply precise mathematical and computer-based methods and develop software for solving current scientific problems. The program combines theoretical and application-oriented contents and is divided into four components: Synchronization (learning fundamental methods and establishing an interdisciplinary profile), Scientific Computing (setting a priority in numerics, statistics, or computer science), Specialization (focus on molecular sciences, geosciences, or atmospheric sciences), and Master's thesis (writing up a research project in the chosen specialization field). The classes are mainly taught in English. The instructors in the program are from the disciplines of Chemistry, Physics, Geosciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
