📋 Program Hakkında

Media Studies is concerned with mediality and its impact on cultural, social and political communication. In this master's degree program, students are trained to competently analyze media, media texts and media systems with a particular focus on the aesthetics, theory, history and analysis of film, television and social media. Moreover, questions from media and cultural studies are investigated primarily with methods from the social sciences, taking into consideration the connections between media and industry, politics and social communication. Students engage in guided independent research, enhancing their receptive and productive skills. The program includes compulsory modules covering theories and methodologies of media studies as well as the history and historiography of media, and offers practical elements in which students gain insights into media production processes in areas such as audio/radio, film/video, online or photography. Possible career paths include editorial departments of newspapers/radio/television/online firms, film industry, publishers and agencies, applied media research, museums, public relations, corporate communications, cultural institutions, educational institutions, and academia.
