The Photography program at Muthesius Kunsthochschule explores diverse photographic expressions, ranging from documentary descriptions of reality to digital construction or simulation of reality. Students implement their artistic/design intentions using photographic media, developing awareness and sensitivity for the specific effects of photographic images. The program spans from practical production to reflection on art, photography and its history, media, and social contexts. Students learn to work with analog and digital cameras, in the photo laboratory, and with digital printing techniques. Additionally, they can explore image editing programs, 3D techniques, and computer-generated image creation. The spectrum ranges from purely analog photography to crossover processes, camera-less photography, image/text and book combinations, space-related installations, and AI-generated images.
