The Bachelor's programme in Biology aims to impart the necessary knowledge of the discipline's research areas, topics, principles, theories, and methods, taking into account the demands of the professional world. This equips students for scientific work, scientifically sound judgment, critical reflection on scientific findings, and responsible action. Students acquire competence through a combination of classroom instruction, online learning, and independent study. The programme offers a broad foundation in organismic biology (botany, zoology), physiology, microbiology, molecular cell biology, and ecology. Students also acquire knowledge in mathematics, chemistry and physics. Special features include close connection with Biophysics and provision of basic knowledge in immunology. Students can choose courses in parasitology, developmental biology, and theoretical biology during advanced studies. Participation in a current research project is an integral part of the programme.
