📋 Program Hakkında

The Master's program in Ethnology / Social and Cultural Anthropology (120 ECTS) provides specialized and generalizable competencies in the study and analysis of contemporary societies and cultures. The core competence of ethnology consists of providing knowledge, skills, and methods in the field of (foreign) cultural understanding. This includes understanding problems of identity, difference, and cultural translation in their processuality and based on critical cultural and social science perspectives. In theoretical-historical modules, students deal with ethnological questions, approaches, and working methods (especially field research). Using case studies, the program provides specialized knowledge of regional ethnographies with a focus on Oceania, Europe/Eurasia, and Africa in transnational relationships. Thematic focuses in the study are: Politics, law, justice, modern statehood, social and cultural theory; Mobility studies with a focus on human-human and human-environment relationships; Europeanization, digitalization, (de-)industrialization, urban change.

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* First qualifying university degree (usually Bachelor) with at least 60 credit points in Ethnology or a comparable field * English language skills at level B2 (UNIcert level II or comparable) * If the qualifying degree is not yet available at the time of application, proof of at least 2/3 of the required academic achievements must be provided. The certificate itself must be submitted within four months after the start of studies.
