📋 Program Hakkında

English studies is dedicated to the investigation of the English language, literature and culture in their various present-day forms and in their historical development. A Bachelor's degree in English encompasses the scientific investigation of English languages (linguistics), literatures (literary studies) and cultures (cultural studies) as well as fundamental language training. Towards the end of the degree programme, students must select an area of specialisation (either linguistics or literary studies). Traditionally, Britain and North America are of central significance both in teaching and research, but there are also classes on other varieties of the language, other literatures in English and other English-speaking cultures. The Department of English is known for its communal spirit, personal atmosphere, and rich cultural events. Graduates might pursue careers as secondary school teachers, in media, communications and translation agencies, training and consulting institutions, tourism, or at universities and research institutes.

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* Recommended: Students should attempt to spend one or two semesters in an English-speaking country. Options include programs through the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG), Erasmus initiatives, the Heidelberg Exchange Program, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Fulbright Commission, or as an assistant teacher in an English-speaking country. * The program can be studied as a first or second major subject. If studied as the first major subject, students must complete a Bachelor's thesis in this field. * A teaching option is available for students who plan to pursue a Master of Education later. * The 50% major requires 74 credit points (LP) out of the total 180 LP for the complete Bachelor's degree. * Students choosing the teaching option need to complete interdisciplinary competencies with a focus on subject didactics and educational sciences, including school internships. * Part-time study is possible. * There are no restrictions on combinations with other subjects.
