Trier University's MSc program in Geoinformatics focuses on the application of geospatial technologies, remote sensing methods and visualization technologies. The Master's programme in Geoinformatics is designed for students who have obtained a Bachelor's degree in geoinformatics or a related field. The programme is aimed at providing and facilitating the development of advanced methodological and computational skills. With the skills received from the programme, students will have the knowledge to obtain jobs in the public and private sector, consultant agencies, insurance companies and more. The successful alumni will be qualified to continue their education in national or international PhD programmes. The Master's degree also entitles them to follow a scientific career in universities and research institutions. The curriculum consists of 120 ECTS points over 4 semesters. The program includes 45 ECTS of mandatory modules (Pflichtmodule) including courses such as Geospatial Programming, Multivariate Statistics, Environmental Remote Sensing, Numerical Mathematics for Geoscientists, Earth Observation Data Science, and Geospatial Statistics. Students must also complete 35 ECTS from elective modules (Wahlpflichtmodule) with options including Remote Sensing Time Series Analysis, Forest Remote Sensing, Geospatial Data Analysis, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and more. Additionally, 10 ECTS are allocated for free electives (Wahlmodule). The final semester includes a Master's thesis (30 ECTS) with an oral examination.
